The NPV (Net Present Value) tab (set from Classifications) within an Initiative, will display the financial Plan, Forecast, Variance, Discount Rate, and Payback Period of an Initiative and its sub-initiatives.
The NPV dashboard can be used if the financial data (NPV, ROI), as well as the non-financial data (Amplify Index, Progress), are important for this initiative.
In the Net Present Value graph, the planned NPV and forecasted NPV are shown. The planned NPV (depicted in a series blue bars), It is based on the planned Benefit and the budget costs.
The forecasted NPV is based on the forecasted Benefit and the forecast costs. The forecasted NPV is shown as amber dots in the graph. When there are actuals recorded, the forecasted NPV only starts after today. Before today the forecasted NPV is then called To Date NPV and is shown as red dots.
When an initiative is part of a business case and the business case has a Baseline, the active baseline will be shown on the initiative Properties dashboard. The baseline is the planned Net Present Value at the moment the baseline was recorded. The Baseline is shown as grey bars. Through this graph, you can compare the Baseline, Plan and Forecast.
When an initiative is part of a Business Case, the span of this graph will be the same as the span of the Business Case. If the initiative is not part of a business case, the larger span of the data within this initiative will be shown. Above the graph, you will see the planned NPV and forecasted NPV that is expected at the end of the timespan and the variance between them. The Payback Period shows how long it takes before the forecasted NPV is greater than 0.
The Amplify Index™ tells you how much of your benefit is likely to be delivered and the benefits delivered shows how much has been delivered so far.
Below the benefits delivered, you will find the attributes of the Initiative and its sub-initiatives, the NPV Baseline Plan, NPV Plan, NPV Forecast, and Variance.
