Within Amplify, you can create a number of different 'project combination' scenarios to go into your organisational portfolio. Scenarios panel on the Properties Dashboard allows you to create multiple scenarios, each with a different combination of project components acting together in different ways to achieve a common goal, which is your organization's goal. You could have multiple initiatives laid out in different flavours in each scenario. When all your various scenarios have been created, you can analyse the different types, side by side, using key metrics and restrictions, making it easier to decide on the best scenario for your organisation going forward.
The way to set up a Scenario and the way to compare different scenarios are described in the sections that follow.
When a Scenario is no longer needed, you can Archive it here.
To create a scenario at a classification level, ensure that Enable Scenarios setting has been enabled and Prioritised items list contains all classification types that will be included in the scenarios. When you click on New button the New Scenario window will open:
To create a new scenario:
- Name the scenario
- Define the Range in which this scenario will take place. Note: This range should correspond to the active range of all initiatives that you want to include in this scenario.
- Optionally, you may Filter by Process Stage (when applicable.)
- Provide a brief description of the option
- Save the scenario
As soon as you click Save, you are directed to the Scenario Dashboard. This interface allows you to configure your scenario settings.
