Amplify supports the importation of Microsoft Project and Primavera Schedules. Existing schedules can be imported via a simple drag and drop method. In addition to this, Amplify has a downloadable Excel Template to assist the user in inputting their tasks.

Importing Schedules Stored in Microsoft Excel Files
If you are used to maintaining project schedules in Microsoft Excel files, creating a Gantt chart from scratch could be time-consuming. This can be accomplished quickly using Amplify's file upload function. Amplify provides an Excel template that contains guidelines on how to fill in your data into the Schedule tab. The first step would be to download this template. Next, read the guidelines on the Read Me tab. Type in your schedule data into the downloaded file as per the guidelines and finally, upload this file into Amplify. On successful upload, the Gantt chart reflects the schedule that was captured in your excel file, displaying tasks, milestones, their progress, and their dependencies.
You can download the template and import the schedule every time the schedule file is updated outside Amplify. If you have already saved a schedule in Amplify, then the excel template you downloaded would contain your existing schedule data pre-filled in it. Simply edit or modify the data and proceed.
To import a schedule from an externally maintained excel file:
- Navigate to the Schedule tab of your initiative.
- Click on the Download Excel Template button. The Excel template is saved in your default download location.
A lock icon displays at the top corner of the schedule tab to indicate that this schedule is locked for editing. If another user wants to work on the schedule, they will need to unlock it by clicking on the lock icon.
- Access the downloaded file, make it editable and fill the schedule details first sheet. You must review the guidelines provided on the Read Me tab before using the template.
- Save the file.
- Go back to your Amplify interface and click on the file upload button.
Locate the file that you updated and wait until Amplify uploads the template.
- When the page is successfully uploaded, a save button is displayed.
- Click on the Save button.
- Verify that dependencies are updated correctly on the Gantt chart.
- Click Save Schedule.
An error message is displayed in case of a mismatch or discrepancy in the data contained in the uploaded excel file. Click Download New Template to go back to the Schedule tab. You may then correct the errors in the downloaded file and upload it when ready.
Importing Schedules from Primavera or MS Project
Click on the MS Project or Primavera file, drag and drop it directly on to the schedule area of a project within Amplify. The system will use and store the name of the task, dates, type of task (task, milestone or project) and the links between tasks.
If you don't like to use the above method, another option is to click on the Upload button and when the file explorer window opens, locate the file and click on the Open button to add it to Amplify.
